Could you benefit from coaching?
Sometimes people aren’t sure whether they need a coach or what kind of coach is right for them. Remember that all successful people need help and support in finding their way forward and optimising their performance. A great coach can act as a catalyst, a supporter, an enabler, a truth-teller, and a source of inspiration.
It’s a partnership built on trust. If you’re not sure if you need a coach or whether I’m the right coach for you, let’s arrange a chat.
What I do
My coaching is about helping people achieve their potential. To find and focus on their strengths and to use these to achieve their greatness. I encourage people to build self-awareness and use what they discover as a springboard for success. I focus primarily on their professional, and business goals. Of course, understanding the whole person is part of this, but I’m not here to help transform your whole life.
Who I coach
My coachees often come from the business community, often in a marketing role. It’s a community I know well. It’s where I grew up professionally. They could be looking to improve their effectiveness in their current role. They could be looking to improve their leadership skills. They may be seeking out new directions.
How I coach
My coaching assignments last around 6 months and we connect regularly, via Zoom, phone or face-to-face. Whatever’s most convenient. We speak for 60 - 90 mins. Every time we speak, we re-set the agenda.
We agree upfront a Vision for the session. An outcome the coachee is looking for. This becomes the ‘contract’ for our discussion.
We then Explore the topic in great detail. Sometimes I’ll use creative techniques to move our discussion forward, but usually, I rely on active listening and asking powerful questions.
Towards the end of the conversation, we review the Learning. We re-calibrate and reflect on what we’ve learnt. We move towards our final destination.
Finally, we agree on the key Outcomes we’ll take forward. We agree on the actions and commitments. We then re-contract for the next session and reflect on the coaching experience.
What I believe in
I believe that everyone is creative and resourceful. Through my coaching, I never ‘tell’ people what they should be thinking or doing. My job is to ensure the people I coach find the answers to their challenges.
My job is help to them to reflect, dig deep, and find their ways forward. I help them to discover and remove the obstacles that are blocking them. If people ask me for their advice, I give it. But it’s not my job to find answers to your problems. Only you can do that.
In November 2019, I completed my Coaching Practitioner Diploma, and am accredited by the Academy of Executive Coaching. Although I’ve been coaching informally for many years, I felt it was important to up my professional game and become familiar with the latest thinking in this area.
